Greetings 15th Med Members,

President's Corner - Association President David Huser wants all our
members to stay at the Marriot Cool Springs Hotel because the normal
room rates are $229.00 and our members will be getting them for $89.00
plus tax. So why stay at any other motel or hotel when you will be staying
at the best. It is also recommended that the dress code of the Dinner
Banquet for men be: Sport Jacket, Collared Shirt and slacks. (tie optional
& please no blue jeans). This is a nice place so why not dress nicely for the
Dinner Banquet.
Vice President's Corner -
To all members and their families:
I am really excited about the upcoming reunion. I want to make 2012 our best one
yet, and I can tell you now that you will be in for a few very nice surprises:
- I have negotiated a phenomenal rate for upgraded first class rooms at the hotel
for only $89!
- The banquet meal includes a choice of three excellent entrees and all the
courses for only $35!
- We've added a Friday night southern style BBQ on a private outdoor patio for
only $20!
- There is a "don't miss" Civil War tour of The Battle of Franklin and historic
downtown for only $5!
- There is so much to see and do in the area (check the Nashville Scene web site
and see).
- And, I have a special surprise arranged for the banquet evening that you will not
want to miss!
To echo Dave Huser's comments, there are two items I'd like to explain.
Number One, the hotel: We know that in these times that many people are on a
budget, and when they come to reunions they like to find low cost rooms. Yes,
you could camp out down the street somewhere at a Motel 6 for $69 a night. But
here's the thing; the hotel rate was negotiated based upon us booking a set
number of rooms. If we fall short, the association may have to make up the
difference. I think the hotel is going to be gracious on that note, but let's show
them that we are a strong and committed organization. Besides, don't you owe it
to yourself to stay in an incredibly well-appointed upscale hotel, and at the same
place as all your friends?
Number Two, the banquet dress code: I am humbly requesting that we dress up a
little for the final evening banquet. To wear a sport jacket, collared shirt, and nice
slacks for this one special evening to honor our missing comrades, out of respect
for their service and sacrifice, is not too much to ask. We do have the Friday night
BBQ for casual wear or military garb, but I think that if you were going to a
wedding or someone's funeral, that out of respect and common decency, you
wouldn't wear jeans and a t-shirt. And, do you know what, I think us men would
also be telling our wives that we want to make the evening special for them also -
it never hurts to demonstrate our love for them by getting dressed up once in a
while.

Recent Emails - I got these 2 emails recently. Hopefully some members of
our Association will remember the times and names of individuals
mentioned in the emails. If any of you do please make contact with them
requesting information.
Hi Mr. Gibbs,
I'm trying to find information on Warrant Office George Warren Rice. He
was assigned to the 15th Medical Battalion during the Vietnam War. He was
KIA on 18 Dec 1965. I'd like to know if you could provide me some direction
on where to search for information about his military career. Additionally, it
would be great if anyone from the 15th Medical Battalion Association may
have know him. How would I go about finding that out. FYI, My search is
strictly personnel as I'm married to his daughter. She was born 4 days after
his death and never knew her father. Thank you in advance for any
assistance you may be able to provide.
Sincerely
Jim Armocida.

Mr. Gibbs,
My name is Steve Gregg, Johnny's younger brother, I received you name
from Art Jacobs, who had left a tribute to Johnny on a website. After
speaking with him via phone, he told me that you had served with Johnny
and might have some recollections of him. I was 16 at the time of his death
and wanted to communicate with his fellow soldiers about his time in
Vietnam. Johnny was an small guy with a big heart. Hopefully, you do not
find this inquiry intrusive. Mr. Jacobs told me that all aboard the helicopter
were lost on impact. I have always wondered, due to the amount of time he
was listed as missing, whether he and crew suffered. I appreciated Mr.
Jacobs telling me that information. Any information you are willing to share
about Johnny is much appreciated.
Many thanks
Steve R. Gregg

Saber Writer - Mike Bodnar is our 1st Cav Div Association Saber magazine
writer. He has been writing Saber articles since 1999. I have most of them
posted on the website and I am waiting for him to send me the rest of 2010
and the some of the 2011 Saber Issues. He gets a lot of his information
from our Guest Book, 1st Cav Div Assn. Guest Book, any emails sent to him
from our members and other sources that I am not aware of. There was a
time that what he wrote filled a page or 1 page & a 1/2. When our sister
website on MSN was active he got a lot of info from it's discussion board.
Well, that website hosting went down in Feb 2008. Now, our current website
went down sometime close to then and I re-established in March of 2008. I
then added a discussion board call Simple Machine Forums. It is labled
Forums on our website. It is a great discussion board if we use it on a more
private level and can be a great source of information for Mike Bodnar. Our
current activity is very, very low.
Many of our members use Facebook as a method of communication with
other members and their families. I am on it also and I keep my friends to
just our 15th Med Assn. members. There is a lot of information posted on
Facebook that Mike Bodnar could use, but hunting down all the members
and what they have posted would be very difficult and time consuming. I
know our FORUMS is not as elaborate as Facebook, but it has more
privacy that Facebook for members and/or wives to make posts on the
Forums.
For example: there are 2 discussion boards that are hiden from the public.
1. Members: 15th Med Members Only. Only the 15th Med Members can
view or make posts on this discussion. Wives and all others can not view
or make posts on this board.
2. 15th Med Member Wives Only: This board is only for the wives to view
or post. 15th Med Members and all others can not view or make posts on
this board.
Screens of the FORUMS - They are before and after login. The Screen
after login is from the webmaster being logged in and is viewed from what
he sees of the discussion boards. 15th Med Members would not see the
Wives private board likewise the Wives would not see the 15th Med
Member's. I have set the permission level to be like that.

Partial Screen after login
I hope the above screens clarifies our forums. The screens may look more
different and much larger than what I have posted above. If any of you have
any questions or concerns please feel free to email me. I must point out
that due to the spammers I have made it restricted to get approval once one
has registered. Just send me an email for approval and the screen name
you used when you registered. The spammers/solicitors I reject and delete
their registration almost daily.

Our Guestbook - The Guestbook was there before I added the Donation
Button and the banner for GSC Voice Over Internet Providerr. Our
Guestbook use to be signed a lot and not we don't get as many entries. It is
also a good source of information of those unknown members who sign it
and leave some good info. One can also view what has been entered going
a few years back. If a member wants to leave a message for all to read,
entering it on the Guestbook is good way to do it. Question is: how many of
our members will use the Guestbook?
If any of you want to contact me or any of the Association's Officers,
please feel free to email, make
a post on the Forums or entries on the
Guestbook.
